Brides ask us this constantly, and it almost always arrives as a slightly panicked message about eight days out: when am I supposed to get my brows done?
There is no single date. Every service settles on its own clock, and the version that photographs best is almost never the one you had done yesterday. A brow tint looks its darkest on day one and its most natural about a week later. A lash lift is at its most dramatic the morning after and its prettiest around week two. Waxing needs a few days for any pink to leave.
So instead of a rulebook, here is what we actually say at the studio, question by question, roughly in the order they come up.
How far in advance should I book my brows before a wedding?
Start thinking about it two to three months out. Book the actual appointments in the final month.
That gap matters more than people expect. Brow shape is not something you buy once. If your brows have been growing wild, or you have been tweezing at home, or you want a fuller arch than you currently have, we need a couple of appointments to get there. Hair grows on its own schedule and no artist can rush it. Coming in twelve weeks out gives us room to map a shape, let the right hairs come back, and refine.
The other reason to start early is boring but real: our Saturdays in wedding season book out. If your date is in the fall and you want a specific artist, get on the calendar now rather than hoping there is a Friday slot the week of.
What we would not do is cram everything into the same seven days. Brows, lashes and body waxing all in one week gives you no room to recover from anything, and no room to fix anything either.
When should I get my final brow shape, waxing or threading?
Five to seven days before.
Both eyebrow waxing and threading take about fifteen to twenty minutes and hold their shape for roughly three to four weeks, so a shape done six days out is nowhere near growing back on the day. What you gain by waiting is the pink. Skin around the brow can stay a little flushed for a few hours after waxing, and some people stay slightly sensitive into the next day. Give it most of a week and there is nothing left to cover.
There is a prep side too. Let your brow hair grow for at least two to three weeks before that appointment so there is something for us to work with. And skip retinol, exfoliating acids and strong sun for about forty eight hours beforehand. Retinol thins the top layer of skin, which is exactly the layer wax grabs onto.
If you are choosing between the two: threading is gentler on reactive skin and skips the wax entirely, which is why we steer a lot of brides who use active skincare toward it. Waxing gives a crisper line on coarse hair. Neither one is a wedding mistake. Doing either one the day before is.
The one rule we never bend
Do not try a brand new service in your wedding week. Not a first lamination, not a first tint, not a first Brazilian. If you have never had it done, have it done at least six weeks out, see how your skin and your face respond, then repeat it on the timeline below. Every bad wedding brow story we have ever heard started with something being tried for the first time on a deadline.
What about brow lamination before the wedding?
Ten to fourteen days before.
Lamination takes about thirty to forty minutes and resets the direction your brow hairs sit in, which is why it looks so good in photos. The catch is that it looks its most set in the first day or two. Fresh lamination reads slightly stiff and very brushed up. By the end of the second week it has softened into the version you actually wanted, still holding, just less obviously done. Most clients rebook every four to six weeks, so a session two weeks out is nowhere near falling out on your date.
Lamination also needs to stay dry for the first twenty four hours, which is a genuinely annoying thing to schedule around a rehearsal dinner.
One practical note if you want both lamination and a clean shape: we usually shape at the same visit as the lamination, because the new hair direction changes where the shape should sit. Then if you want a small cleanup closer to the day, we do a light one about five days out rather than a full reshape.
When should I get a brow tint or henna before the big day?
A standard brow tint, seven to ten days before. Henna, closer to two weeks.
This one trips people up because a tint fades on two clocks at once. The color on your brow hair lasts about four to six weeks. The stain sitting on the skin underneath lasts only five to ten days, and that skin stain is what makes a fresh tint look dense and filled in. Day one is the boldest your brows will ever look. If your taste runs natural, you do not want your photos taken on day one.
Seven to ten days out lands you in the sweet spot: the skin stain has mostly softened, the hair color is still fully there, and your brows look like your brows on their best morning.
Henna is different. It stains the skin deliberately and more deeply, holding two to three weeks on skin and four to six weeks on hair, and it takes thirty to forty five minutes. Because that stain is the whole point of henna, you have more room. Two weeks out is comfortable. If you have sparse patches you want filled in for photos, henna is usually the better pick of the two.
Either way, keep the area dry for the first twelve to twenty four hours, and avoid retinoids and acid exfoliants for a day or two on each side of the appointment. Those are the two things that strip a tint fastest.
How far ahead should I book a lash lift and tint for my wedding?
Two to three weeks before. This is the appointment brides most often get wrong.
A keratin lash lift takes forty five to sixty minutes with the tint and lasts six to eight weeks. So far so easy. But the tint does not last six to eight weeks. Lash tint fades in about three to four weeks. Two services, one appointment, two completely different expiry dates.
This is why the bride who books her lift and tint two months ahead so it is “definitely settled” turns up on her wedding morning with beautifully curled lashes and no color left in them. The curl outlives the color by weeks. If you are more than a month out and you love the tinted look, plan on a quick tint refresh closer to the date rather than one early appointment doing both jobs.
The other reason not to go too close: the first twenty four hours after a lift decide how well it holds. Lashes are still setting, and water, steam, and rubbing during that window are what cause a lift to drop early. A bride the day before her wedding is a person who is going to cry, hug two hundred people, and possibly get caught in a hot tent. Give the lift a couple of weeks of ordinary life first.
Somewhere around week two is also when a lift stops looking brand new and starts looking like you simply have great lashes, which is the whole idea.
When should I book body waxing or a Brazilian before the wedding?
Three to five days before. Never the day before.
Body waxing needs recovery time that facial waxing does not. Redness settles within a day or two for most people, but small bumps and the odd ingrown can show up on day two or three. You want those behind you, not arriving on the morning.
If this would be your first Brazilian, book two appointments, not one. Come in six to eight weeks before for the first, then again three to five days before the wedding. The second wax is genuinely easier and cleaner than the first, because the hair is already growing in on one cycle rather than three. Doing your first ever Brazilian in wedding week is the single most common regret we hear about.
Let the hair grow about two weeks before any body waxing appointment. Too short and there is nothing for the wax to hold. And if a honeymoon with beaches is on the other side of the wedding, that same appointment covers both, so plan the date around the trip rather than the ceremony.
What if I have never been to your studio before?
Then your first appointment should not be your wedding appointment. Come in eight to twelve weeks out.
Think of it the way you would a hair or makeup trial. That first visit is where we map your brows against your bone structure, find out what your hair actually does, and learn how your skin reacts. It is also where you find out whether you like our shaping. If you do not, you have two months to say so and adjust, which is a very different conversation than having it on a Thursday in October.
Bring photos of your brows when you liked them best. Bring the photos of the shape you want, too. We would rather see them than guess.
Does the same timeline work for bridesmaids and mothers of the bride?
Yes, with one adjustment. Anyone who is not the bride can compress the whole thing into the final three weeks, because the stakes on a slightly bold tint are lower and nobody is photographing them at close range for four hours.
What we ask is that groups book as a group. Six people arriving separately across a wedding week is very hard to fit. Six people on one afternoon is easy, and we can keep everyone’s shaping consistent, which matters more than you would think in a lineup photo.

Where to book in Santa Monica, Brentwood and Austin
We see brides at all three studios. In Los Angeles that is our Santa Monica location and our Brentwood location, and in Texas it is our Austin studio. If you are getting married in one city and living in another, book the early appointments wherever is convenient and the final ones near the venue, and tell us at the first visit so we can note the shape properly for whichever artist sees you next.
If you are combining services, block off enough time. A lash lift with tint runs forty five to sixty minutes. A brow tint with shaping or lamination runs about forty five to seventy five minutes. Those are real appointment lengths, not a fifteen minute stop on the way to a fitting.
