How Long Does a Lash Lift and Tint Take?

How Long Does a Lash Lift and Tint Take? | The Brow Fixx

You've got an hour between meetings. Or maybe a gap before dinner plans. Is that enough time for a lash lift and tint? Yes, and you'll probably spend a few minutes afterward just staring at your lashes in your car mirror before you drive away.

The Quick Answer

Total Appointment Time
45 to 75 Minutes

Most clients are in and out in about one hour

That's the realistic window for a full lash lift and tint appointment. The exact time depends on a few things like the thickness of your natural lashes, what kind of curl you're going for, and the products being used. But for the average client at The Brow Fixx, plan for about an hour.

What Happens During That Hour

It's one of those services that sounds complicated but feels incredibly simple when you're the one sitting in the chair. Here's the breakdown of what your lash artist is actually doing:

1
Consultation
5 to 10 minutes

Your artist looks at your natural lashes, talks through what you want, and selects the right silicone shield and tint shade for your lash type and eye shape. This is where a good artist earns their reputation. The shield they pick determines the curl you get, and the wrong choice is how people end up with lashes that look over curled or barely lifted.

2
The Lash Lift
30 to 45 minutes

Your lashes are secured onto the shield with a gentle adhesive. Then the lifting solution goes on. This is the part that softens the bonds in your lash hair so they can be reshaped into that upward curl. How long the solution stays on depends on your lash thickness. Fine lashes need less time. This is also the step where training matters most, because over processing happens when timing isn't precise.

3
The Tint
10 to 15 minutes

Once the lift is set, a lash tint is applied. This darkens every lash from root to tip, including those tiny blonde or light hairs you can't normally see. When the tint comes off, your lashes look naturally dark and defined, like you're wearing mascara when you're not.

4
Finishing and Aftercare
About 5 minutes

A nourishing serum or conditioning treatment goes on to rehydrate your lashes after the chemical process. Your artist will walk you through what to do (and what to avoid) for the first 24 hours so your results hold as long as possible.

Can You Actually Fit This Into a Lunch Break?

Yes. A lot of our clients do exactly that. If you have a full 60 minutes, you're in good shape. If it's your very first lash lift, give yourself an extra 10 to 15 minutes for the consultation since your artist will want to spend a little more time understanding your lashes and your expectations. After your first visit, you'll know exactly how long your appointments run and scheduling gets even easier.

The service itself is relaxing. Your eyes are closed the entire time. Plenty of our clients actually fall asleep during the lift portion, which is the nicest compliment an artist can get.

How Long Do the Results Last?

This is the part that makes the time investment so worth it. A single one hour appointment gives you results that last for weeks.

The lift itself holds for about six to eight weeks. That's how long it takes for your natural lashes to complete their growth cycle and shed. As old lashes fall out and new ones grow in, the curl gradually fades back to your natural state.

The tint lasts about three to four weeks. It fades slowly as the dye wears off and new, untinted lashes grow in. Some clients add a standalone tint between lift appointments to keep the color fresh, especially if they have naturally light lashes.

If you want a deeper look at the full timeline and what affects how long your results hold, we covered everything in our post on how long a lash lift lasts.

Lash Lift and Tint vs. Lash Extensions

Lash Lift + Tint

Takes about 1 hour

Results last 6 to 8 weeks

Zero daily maintenance

Works with your natural lashes

No fills or touch ups needed

Sleep however you want

Lash Extensions

Takes 1.5 to 2.5 hours

Need fills every 2 to 3 weeks

Careful daily maintenance required

Synthetic or mink fibers added

Fill appointments add up in cost

Can't sleep on your face

A lot of our clients switched to lash lifts after getting tired of the maintenance and cost of extensions. The lash lift vs extensions decision really comes down to your lifestyle. If you want something natural looking that requires zero upkeep, the lift wins every time.

How to Prep for Your Appointment

Before You Come In

Remove all mascara, eyeliner, and eye cream before you arrive. Clean lashes make a huge difference in how well the solutions adhere.

Skip the coffee right before your appointment. Caffeine can make your eyelids flutter, which slows down the process.

Take out your contacts if you wear them. You can put them back in right after the service.

Ask your questions during the consultation at the beginning. Clear communication upfront means fewer adjustments mid service.

After your appointment, the main rule is simple: keep your lashes dry for 24 hours. No showering directly on your face, no swimming, no steam rooms. After that first day, you're free to live your life normally. Most clients find they can skip mascara entirely, which saves time every single morning.

Why the Person Doing Your Lash Lift Matters

A lash lift is a chemical service. The lifting solution is literally breaking and reshaping the bonds inside your lash hairs. That means timing, product selection, and shield choice all need to be precise. Too much processing time and your lashes become dry and brittle. Wrong shield and the curl looks unnatural. This is not a service where "close enough" works.

Every lash artist at The Brow Fixx has been trained through The Brow Fixx Academy, where we teach the exact techniques we use in our own salons. Our lash lift online course covers shield selection, timing protocols, lash anatomy, troubleshooting, and aftercare in detail. It's the same education our team goes through before they work on their first client.

If you're a licensed esthetician or cosmetologist looking to add lash lifts to your service menu, that course is self paced, includes a professional kit, and comes with certification. We also offer courses in brow lamination training and eyebrow waxing certification for professionals building out a full brow and lash menu.

Finding a Lash Lift and Tint Near You

If you're searching for a lash lift and tint near you, the most important thing is finding a salon where lashes are the focus, not a side service squeezed between haircuts and nails. You want artists who do this all day, every day, because that repetition builds the kind of precision that gives you consistently great results.

At The Brow Fixx, lash lifts and brow services are all we do. We have three locations: Santa Monica, Brentwood in Los Angeles, and Austin, Texas. Our lash lift and tint service takes about an hour, and most clients book every six weeks to keep their results consistent.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a lash lift and tint hurt?

No. It's completely painless. Your eyes are closed the entire time and most clients find it relaxing enough to doze off.

Can I wear mascara after a lash lift?

Yes, after 24 hours. But most clients find they don't need to. The lift and tint together give your lashes enough definition and curl that mascara becomes optional.

Do I need a tint every time I get a lift?

Not necessarily. If your lashes are naturally dark, the lift alone might be enough for you. If your lashes are light or blonde, the tint makes a noticeable difference and most clients with lighter lashes add it every time.

How is a lash lift different from a lash perm?

A lash lift uses a flat silicone shield to create a natural looking upward sweep from the root. Older lash perms used round rods that created a tighter, more circular curl. Lifts give a more modern, open eyed result.

How soon can I book my next lash lift?

We recommend waiting at least six weeks between appointments. That gives your lashes time to complete their natural growth cycle and ensures the next lift processes evenly. Check out our scheduling guide for lash lifts for a more detailed breakdown.
